Planting our homestead is not just a dream for us. It is a process in the making. Walk with us as we grow our homestead beginnings and on. Today, we planted the homestead.
Planting the homestead has finally begun! The weather is cooperating and the soil levels have been a consistent sustainable temperature, 70 degrees, zone 5A. So now, let the planting begin! Yay!
Around the green house, some of the strawberry bushes that survived the bunny attack are slowly coming back. I am doing my best to nurture them back to health. So far, sadly 2 bushes have been destroyed. We are putting up a better fence this year along with a fence around our homestead area. Only time will tell.
The tomatoes' did great 2 years ago in planters, the best yield I had to date, so they went back in planters this year. The green house did not give high yield with the tomatoes so they went in planters. Along with the cherry tomatoes in the planters, the romaine and beef steak tomatoes will go in potato sacks. They do amazing in those.
I feel accomplished now that the planting has begun. Now on to the excitement of nurturing the pretties and watching them grow. I can not begin to explain the accomplishment and joy I feel as I watch my garden grow. The nutrition my family receives and the smile on their faces as they eat "the best tasting food ever" is incomparable.
