Area b.f.e Presents:
What you need:
A courageous person is like a addiction to children. They are drawn to courage like a trampoline. There is a reason why knights, princesses, and firemen and are so profitable for books and movies. We are designed to need a savior. We are drawn towards strength and boldness.
In my many years teaching tweens and teens relationship building, one very profound truth has been reiterated to me over and over and over again. Our children are attracted to the courage of the one who pursues them. They respect the one who trusts them with their knowledge. They hold the highest respect for the one who talks to them first.
Therefore, go out wield your weapon with strength and character and determination. Shape your children into the priceless man and woman they were created with such care to be. You have the most valuable job you could be doing right now. Be courageous!
" This is my command-be strong and courageous!
Do not be apprehensive or discouraged,
because the LORD your God is with you
wherever you go!"
Welcome To The Black Hills
This place is straight up cool! There are few places left where you can investigate cave and mining tunnels on your own. This is one of them! With that being said...PLEASE DON'T FLOCK HERE AND DISPLAY STUPIDITY GETTING THE PLACE SHUT DOWN!!!...respect the owners and their kindness to keep the old mine open to the public. That's right, the Ingersoll Mine is privately owned and a great example of the American Ingenuity and Americas past glory years.
It was shut down for some time years ago from stupidity. People trashed it and graffiti some of it. So, let's keep this awesome piece of the American West open for generations to come by using common since, hiking out what you hike out, and not demolishing the history and local wildlife (the bats).
Lets get on to the good stuff ;) The Ingersoll Mine is also known as The Ben Butler Mine and itself was functional until the 1970's, from what I could find. It was first discovered around 1880 with it's first productive year in 1922ish. The mine was in search of minerals such as Tin, Mica, Beryllium, Quartz, and Titanium. It is roughly a mile or so hike to the mine from the parking, which was tiny. Only big enough for 3 cars. It is a little hard to find the trail head, easy to miss. I saved the best for last so stay with me till the end.
This is the Ingersoll Mine itself. As old and crumbly as the structure is, it is still well enough intact to explore at your own risk. Of course you have to check out the old thing, who wouldn't ;)
The puppy was very uncertain of the floor here but curiosity won and bravery kicked in. Don't worry, she is fine. She is always adventurous.
Hiking farther up the mountain, we came to this huge mine. This particular one was real neat. The rock was so solid that there was minimal supports along the way. It appeared to me that this mine might be more resent than the last one I will show you, but I could be wrong. None the less, the Ingersoll Mine was proving to be worth the hike. This mine was not super long but very intricate and real pretty.
Down the trail and onto the big guy! This mine was so cool and took up most of our day. This is the stuff America was built upon, ingenuity and hard work. It is so crazy to think how these guys were able to do all of this.
We had a blast exploring these mines. The Black Hills definitely has American adventure ready to seek out. All I can say is "I'll be back"!
I have learned more about my babies personalities, temperaments, thought processes, hopes and dreams than I ever knew I didn't know. I recognize now, I am homeschooling to enjoy my treasures. Homeschooling is not a freedom we have. No! It is much more than that! It is our gift, our award as parents. It is our allowance as a family. Homeschooling is for our benefit.
I never grasped the importance of being a Momma until I forfeited part of that gift. The saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder" is more true than I ever gave it credit for. After 8 years of releasing my gifts every morning to others, missing out on firsts that I will never recover. I now apprehend the intense importance of my treasures.
My God has mercy for this Momma's heart, these years to reap the full benefit of his award. My reason for homeschooling.......................
I never thought I would hold the "Hero Status" in someone's eyes. I persist now in our adventure with my target in my sights, maintain hero status. So, here to all you hero Momma's and Daddy's out there giving yourselves to the benefit of your families. You are the true hero's! You hold hero status!
"Then I looked over the situation...Don't loose heart or be discouraged. Remember the LORD who is great and glorious and fight. Fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives/husbands, and your homes"

My prayer today looked like this...
Try to add together all the pebbles of sand on all the earth, the vastness of it. Gathering it all together in your mind on a massive beach next to the sea. Knowing that out of all those small pebbles, He sees you. He picks you out not as one of the a million in likeness but one of high value. Like a miner who treasures the vein of gold found out of the ginormous mountain range. My God, my Jesus, looks upon me and He looks upon you with excitement. You are the 'X marks the spot' on His treasure map!
He has bragging rights over me and He has bragging rights over you! I can see it now...
As He is enthralled in the excitement of all His children, He fixes His attention on you. He calls Michael over with a proud puffed out chest while beaming with radiance in His smile as He tells Michael to look upon you. In that moment Michael is blown away in awe by the delight he sees in the face of the Creator who, out of all the vastness of the universe, singles you out with the pride of a Daddy.
He will blow your mind too. Do you wanna see how He blew my mind for the first time years ago? Watch this video below. I promise, you will never look at God the same way again. (not affiliated in any way) You will never look at the pebbles in the sand the same way again either, your welcome. Have a super blessed week you guys :)
I threw them in the cream of mushroom soup, ssshhh, I didn't say anything when I served it. I wanted to see what the family would do, heeheehee. I had a few pieces of bacon left over that I didn't cook for breakfast and I thought, score, protein! It was a hit! Top the green bean casserole soup off with cheese and fried onions and this is killer crowd pleaser. This is now a staple in the family meal plan. In fact, it is what my buddy asked for lunch and dinner on his birthday. And I love that the tradition green bean casserole is still kept special.
To top it off, the recipe is gluten and yeast free. If you wanna make it paleo, you can omit the cream for coconut milk. To make it vegan you can also omit the bacon, maybe throw some yummy tofu in there.
- 1 whole medium onion diced
- 16-24 oz mushrooms sliced
- 4 cups chicken stalk, yeast free for me
- 1.5 cups cream or milk or a combo of both
- 2 cloves of garlic or 1 tbsp flavor god garlic lovers
- 1 tsp salt and pepper + more to taste later if you want
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp parsley
- 2 tbsp butter or coconut oil
- 2-3 tbsp tapioca starch or coconut flower
- a bunch of fresh, a bag of frozen or a few cans of green beans
- shredded cheddar cheese
- crispy fried onion (I love this gluten free recipe) or regular bag of store bought, won't be gluten free but it's your food, do what you want;)
- crisp bacon pieces or tofu or nothing
- a puppy to sit at your feet and beg for bacon
- Melt butter or coconut oil in a sauce pan. Once melted, add the diced onions, garlic, slat, pepper, thyme, parsley. After about 3 min or once onions are just bendy but not soft add the mushrooms. Allow to simmer till the mushrooms are cooked by half the amount.
- Add the chicken stalk and the cream or milk or coconut milk. If using fresh green beans, add them now. Bring to a slight boil and then reduce heat to simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add green beans if canned or frozen. Allow to cook to warm through.
- Add the tapioca starch or coconut flower starting with 2 tbsp. Stir good and allow 5 minutes to thicken. If not thick to your liking, add the other tbsp
Before I begin, lets get a few things understood. You will not become rich on using any app. Sorry, but that's the cold hard truth. I like truth, it saves disappointment. However, these apps can help you out quite a bit. The "apps that make money" to use them moto can be a wide range of how much money you can actually get and how you get that money into your pocket. The 3 apps that I have listed from my personal use will hit at the three most common areas of how apps pay you. Here we go.
The Ibotta app is my favorite by far. I have been using this app for a while now and I think I might be addicted. It is so very easy to use. Ibotta pays you to shop for your groceries and house goods and clothes. How cool is that! It is totally legit. You choose from many grocery stores like Safeway, Walmart, Sam's, Fry's, Target. Some others like Walgreens, Family Dollar, and PetSmart. As well as clothing from Aeropostale (spend $40 and get a $5 rebate), home goods from Home Depot, and Military Commissary. Or restaraunts like Chili's, Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday (right now: spend $15 get a $5 rebate) and more. All you do is go here, create an account, unlock all the rebates you will use.
The first month, while trying to figure it out, I received $32 after grocery shopping just twice with my $10 for my first rebate. The second month, with one team member and grocery shopping three times, I earned $57.50. The months to fallow I have been up into the $60 range. All of these rebate amounts solely on groceries and I only shop at three different grocery stores (Sam's monthly, Walmart bi-monthly, and Safeway weekly). The months get better as you go because the app seems to customize the rebates according to what you unlock. I have not had the need to redeem any rebates for clothing or restaurants or other things yet but when I do I know my rebates will go up. I have heard of people getting rebates of upwards of $200+ a month with Ibotta.
How you prove that you bought the item is simple. You choose "verify rebate" and then select the store you shopped at. Next, choose the rebates you used at that particular store. If the receipt has a barcode on the bottom, you scan it and your done. Once the receipt is verified (within 24 hours) the cash is in your account. If there is no barcode, like at Safeway, then you scan the barcode on the unlocked rebate item that you purchased there and then take a picture of your receipt. You can also scan an item in the store to see if there is a rebate available it as well. And an area where you can create your own shopping list so it is all done in the one app.
You don't have to put in any personal information on Ibotta so there is no scare for lack of security. This is one reason why Ibotta was appealing to me, I don't trust an app with my personal information. With a $20 minimum you can transfer your cash into either your PayPal or venom. Or with a minimum of $25 choose a gift card from places like Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, Sephora, Starbucks, and more. You truly will love Ibotta.
I have been using Shopkick the longest. It has been covered in Forbes and Time Magazine. The cash earned is different than Ibotta, you turn your kicks into gift cards like Fandango, Walmart, Target, Sephora, Nike, Barnes & Noble, and Game Stop. Gift cards are still cash in my eyes, free money. I think this is a great app, super great for college students, as a way to earn things they may not have the available cash for like Christmas and Birthday presents for parents ;) This is a great app because it shows you deals, aka coupons, and sale items in different stores as well as earning money for what we do all the time, shop! You just go here to download the app, create your account, then look for deals and stores for kicks near you. Shopkick is one of the easiest sights to navigate through. Just opening the app daily will give you 1-3 kicks.
With Shopkick, you have three options. First, you get kick points for entering a store. You must have your Shopkick app open, location and Bluetooth on, as it does require some data usage. When you go to a store, like say Walmart, Shopkick checks you in and you get kicks. These kick range from store to store and day to day. You can also earn kicks by scanning items the app offers. All you do is find the item, click it's picture, and scan it then walk away. These kicks range any where from 15-40 kicks. Third, you can choose to buy the item that you scan. If you do this then you get greater kicks. There is a potential of getting 400-500 kicks when you scan and purchase. You do have to link a Visa or MasterCard to do this. Another option would be to link a rechargeable card instead of my debit or credit card.
Google Opinion Rewards is an app that links right to your google play account, sorry Apple and Window users, it's only for android. You can download it here. You are given money for opinion surveys. These surveys last maybe 5-20 seconds. They range from 1-5 questions. You get any where from $.10-$.49 (or at least that is what I have gotten) depending on the survey. This doesn't seem like much but they add up. I have earned $22.16 over the last few months. The cash is good for up to a year before it disappears.
My brother, who is a huge computer super smart person, told me about this app. The surveys range from "did you visit any of these stores in the last week and what would you rate it" to "do you shop for your families groceries" to politics to sports. I am sure it differs on the person as to what they ask. Sometimes they ask what your household income is, I am paranoid and I don't like this question, so I either choose the 'choose not to answer' option or make it up. Sorry, but I do.
Now, the difference between Google Opinion Rewards and the Shopkick and Ibotta app is you spend your money in the play store. You can not withdraw the cash or get gift cards. I love this idea as I am not the person to spend my money on apps and games. But earning it this way to get a super cool upgrade packet fro my son's off road game, I can do that. There are instances from time to time too when I come across a neat app that will come in handy dandy and boom, I have my google play credits to use. You know those annoying adds on the free app that you just love? Wee, for $.99 of my google rewards to stop the annoying adds, I will do that too. Those games and apps can nickel and dime ya but not with Google Opinion Rewards, they have you covered. (No I am not an affiliate, I just thought that sounded catchy)
What I like to spend my credits on is movies. That's right, movies I can watch on my phone while we travel. I have a Samsung Note so my phone is huge;) And good music. My kids then connect to my google play and have all the music they want and I can control what they download. Oh yeah, win for Momma!
